Bought a Pearl white T31 with 90,000kms. Had it 8 years and now it has 190K on the clock. I love it as much as I did when I bought it and it still looks great against all the other SUV's.

Missing cylinders 7 & 8 from the 650i and... strange knocking noise in the engine when idle, related to lubricating oil quality or fuel injection system problems, airbag system faults and lane departure warning steering wheel vibration mechanisms.. electrical systems malfunctions.. yeah.. nah..

Would a C43 be more reliable and/or less to maintain? The C63 is obviously a much nicer sounding car, but it’s a lot of car for the road and the C43 seems slightly more reasonable

Surprised to see the facelift headlights with the black surround, in NZ that would indicate it's got the headlights from a VZR. Can't comment on the AU market however. NZ was awash with JDM imports due to the lack of local car manufacturing to protect, so it wasn't uncommon to see plenty of VZRs with the 2.0 litre SR20VE from the P11 Primera, along with SR16VE cams or N1 cams. After driving a VE going back to a DE is as dull as dishwater.

I looked at a Boxster/Cayman earlier this year, but decided on an MX5 RF instead. Half the cost for a much newer car, almost as quick as a standard Boxster, a fraction of the maintenance costs, no IMS or RMS worries, and just as much fun in the twisty stuff. Yes, the Mazda isn't going to impress the neighbours, but what kind of twat do you have to be to buy a car using that as a factor?

GTO/3000GT are just as popular as they should be and thats great. Lots of ppl are fans and love them as many other cars that aren't anomalies in the market. So if we compare anything to lets say . . . GTRs, RX7s and Supras than yeah it looks like its not popular but those cars are an exception because they are massivaely overhyped and overated (not saying they are not great cars in their own rights btw) thx to so many form of popular media . . . So i am glad things are not like that for the GTO/3000GT and other cars that aren't the 3 i listed above . . . I could add others to that list like the Corolla GTS/Sprinter Trueno/AE86 as another super obvious example of cars that are overpriced because of abnormal popularity caused in the same way . . .

Buy a last of series Jag xkr or xkr-s. Better built, as fast /faster, looks better, classier, not without its issues (plastic water pump and plastic coolant hoses need doing around 80-100k), but otherwise very stout. Crap infotainment but you don’t buy it for that. Absolute two personalities-can kill you if you are a knob, or your granny can tootle around in them no issues. Best GT car without spending $300k.

2002 CR-V now with 460000 km. Unscheduled maintenance-replaced interior ventilation/demist fan, ignition switch, starter motor. Thats all. Apart from increased oil consumption and electric door locking issues it runs beautifully still.
